Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalayas’ eastern edge, is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys. Peaks such as 7,326m Jomolhari are popular trekking destinations in the High Himalayas. Paro Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s Nest) clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley. 

In 2006, the fourth king of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, announced that he would abdicate in favour of a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy. In 2008, the year that marked 100 years of the monarchy, two important events occurred: the first democratic elections and the coronation of the fifth king, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.

Ways to Reach Bhutan from India. 

By Direct Flight Entry: Flying to Bhutan from India is quite easy. There are two direct airlines, namely, Drukair and Bhutan Airlines that operate flights from Delhi, Gaya, Bagdogra, Kolkata, Mumbai and Guwahati to Paro, Bhutan's only international airport direct flight from Bhutan to Paro, the airfare comes around Ex Delhi, 38000/Ex Kolkata 27000/Ex Guwahati 17000 & Ex Bagdogra 16000 (Ex Hub–Paro Ex Hub). The fares mentioned are approx.

By Road-via Bagdogra airport & New Jalpaiguri Railway station or New Alipurdwar Railway station- & entry via border Phuentsholing, Bhutan: Arrive at Bagdogra by flight, or New Jalpaiguri Train station (approx. 12 km from Bagdogra airport). Reach Phuentsholing in 4-5 hours, Reach Thimphu in another 4-5 hours. The road from Phuentsholing to Thimphu is very scenic. New Alipurdwar is approx. 2 hours from Phuentsholing. 

Day1
Bagdogra Airport To Phuentsholing. (165 Kms, 04-4.30 Hrs Drive Approx) + Transfer To Paro (160 Kms / 05 Hrs Drive Approx)
  • Arrive at Bagdogra Airport. Our representative will meet and greet you and then complete the Pre-registration formalities of the individual at the Immigration counter. 
  • On arrival in Paro, check into the hotel.
  • Overnight in Paro.
Day2
Paro—Excursion To Taktshang Monastery –TIGER Nest. (FEES 1000 For 5 Years And Above, To Be Paid Directly)
  • After breakfast excursion to Taktshang Monastery or Tiger’s Nest (approx. 5 hours walk):
  • It is one of the most famous of Bhutan’s monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro Valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called ‘Tiger’s Nest’. This site has been recognised as a most sacred place and was visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646 and is now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. On 19 April 1998, a fire severely damaged the main structure of the building but now this Bhutanese jewel has been restored to its original splendour.
  • Afternoon drive to Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress where Bhutanese warriors fought Tibetan invaders centuries ago. The snowy dome of sacred Chomolhari, the "mountain of goddess'' can be seen in all her glory from the approach road to the Dzong.
  • Evening, visit the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. The building of this temple marks the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan.
  • Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day3
Punakha Day Excursion, Visit Dochu La Pass (ON The Way) & Back To Thimphu.
  • After breakfast, Check out & transfer to the Punakha Day excursion approx 110 km, 3.30 hours on one side & we drive to Wangdi (Wangdiphodrang) 
  • Wangdi is the last town on the highway before entering Central Bhutan. The drive is over Dochu La pass (3080Mts / 10102Fts) which is very scenic with a fascinating view of the mountains of Bhutan. At Punakha visit Punakha Dzong, Chimi Lhakhang (Monastery), Evening you drive back to Thimphu 70 km, 2 hours drive.
  • The Dochu La is a mountain pass in the snow-covered Himalayas within Bhutan on the road from Thimphu to Punakha where 108 memorial chor tens or stupas known as "Druk Wangyal Chortens" have been built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, the eldest Queen Mother.
  • Overnight at the Hotel in Thimphu.
Day4
Thimphu Sightseeing & Transfer To Phuentsholing: 160 Km / 5 Hours Approx
  • Breakfast & checkout.
  • Thimphu Sightseeing, visit the following (TIME PERMITTING): Afternoon sightseeing in Thimphu Valley including a visit to the following: Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang). Located a short drive from Thimphu city centre, visitors can get a good overview of the Thimphu Valley from the Buddha Point (KuenselPhodrang). You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers to the Buddha, the largest statue in the country and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley.
  • King's Memorial Chorten was continuously circumambulated by people, murmuring mantras and spinning their prayer wheels. Construction of this landmark was the idea of Bhutan’s third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk (“the father of modern Bhutan”) who wished to erect a monument to world peace and prosperity. Completed in 1974 after his untimely death, it serves both as a memorial to the Late King and as a monument to peace.
  • The National Library, housing an extensive collection of priceless Buddhist manuscripts; the Institute for Zorig Chusum (commonly known as the Painting School) where students undergo a 6-year training course in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts. Later visit Textile Museum, which provides insight into Bhutan’s one of the most distinct art forms. Also visit Simply Bhutan, a living museum and studio encapsulating the cultural heritage of the Bhutanese people.
  • 14.30—Transfer to Phuentsholing  
  • Overnight at the hotel in Phuentsholing.
Day5
Phuentsholing To Bagdogra Airport Transfer. (155 Kms, 04 Hrs Drive Approx).
  • Transfer to Bagdogra Airport for your flight
